Aujourd’hui, une lutte est en cours face à l’éventualité de la signature du traité Petapan entre les gouvernements fédéral et provincial et les conseils de bande de Mashteuiatsh, Essipit et Nutashquan. Cette capsule anonymisée réalisée à Mashteuiatsh témoigne de l’aberration de ce traité colonial qui signifierait perte de droits ancestraux et du territoire, le Nitassinan.

The land, it’s Sacred, Mashteuiatsh

The Ilnu have never ceded their land by treaty. Today, a battle is taking place over the signing of the Petapan treaty between the federal and provincial governments, and the band council of Mashteuiatssch, Essipit and Nutashquan. This anonymised video capsule, made in Mashteuiatsch, bears witness to the aberration of the colonial treaty which would signify the loss of ancestral rights and territory, the Nitassinan.
